The Hideaways are a joint project between the Whitestone Christian Community and Rick and Ginger Still
Rick and Ginger Still: OK. We live in Florida on the Northwest shore of Kingsley Lake…both our daughters went to college in Alaska, Heather in Southeast, near Haines; Megan to Whitestone (near Delta Junction). Here she met and married a great young man (Gabe) and together, gave us three incredible grandkids (#4 is on the way) and are a part of the Whitestone community. The Hideaways are an idea we’ve talked about for years and are launching as a business to bring us all closer.
We started coming to Alaska 15 years ago to spend time with our kids and were struck by the natural beauty and the warmth and hospitality of the people. So…now we thought it a good idea to offer travelers a really interesting and comfortable place to stay that included “civilized isolation” and a nicely appointed base cabin.
Me (Rick): I’ve spent 35 years developing high level trade events in the global travel industry. I’ve been privileged to work with some of the world’s brightest hoteliers and the best hospitality professionals and have helped them connect with people around the planet.
We hope you enjoy our website and that we may be graced with the opportunity of welcoming you as Hideaway guests.
Whitestone Farms is a Christian Community located in Delta Junction. It has a widely recognized private school (K thorough college), a respected construction company — Heritage Contracting, Alaska Furs and Gifts (the spectrum from really cool fur garments to simple wood carvings), they run State Parks and Gift Shops (Rika’s Road House and Denali Gift Shops). Personally, I love the 50+ voice choir that gets to sing with the Fairbanks Philharmonic. Oh yeah: Pauline makes the best granola on the planet, and the folks make their own dairy products, grow their own prized beef … all (and more) of which are available in your hideaway. And Tanana Adventure Sports – well they have expertly maintained ATV’s, Snow mobiles, and we might even be able to get you a car to rent at great rates.
We think it’s a great idea. If you’ve been cruising on the inland passage or taken a bus tour and want to see the Alaska on your own terms, this is a once in a life time opportunity. We figure there will be less than 100 people on the planet that will take us up on this offer (that’s 0.0000014 of the planet’s population) … let us know if we can answer any questions or provide additional information.
While we are remote in location - no one is going to find us accidentally - make no mistake, our sanctuaries include the finest amenities and tasteful appointments. HDTV, Wi-Fi, gas stove fireplace, stainless steel kitchen, a bathroom that requires long soaks, and a killer bed. Kick back in the Great Room with a view of the moon on the mountains...or a sunset depending on the time of year.
